Mount Shasta United Methodist Camp, Dave Wolf, mdflow@earthlink.net. Help construct a retreat center at the beautiful Camp in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest between Mt. Eddey and Mt. Shasta. June through mid-October, 2005. The footings are in place for the two-story building with basement. Skilled and experienced builders as well as eager helpers are needed.  Accommodations include a small chalet, tent and RV sites.  Motels are nearby. Volunteers will pay for their food costs.  Teams and individuals are invited to stay for one or two week duration. A, RV.

This inner-city church serves a very diverse congregation from Anglo to Hispanic to Tongan to Russian Orthodox.  The gathering hall needs plaster repair and extensive repainting.  The fellowship hall needs hard-wood floor installed, and repainting.  The sanctuary needs to have (1) pews removed, (2) altar staging for handicap accessibility built, (3) organ pipe hiding screens installed, (4) murals painted, (5) complete repainting on inside, and (6) some remodeling of the altar.  Outside, the church wants constructed a permanent labyrinth. Magruder’s Youth in Service Camp Sunday, June 26 – Friday, July 1, 2005. Camp Magruder is inviting youth groups to spend a week on the North Oregon Coast, to experience serving others, growing in their faith, and having fun.   Service opportunities may include:  Helping local church members with house work/repairs, assisting at local food banks, trail work with the Nature Conservancy, and projects around Camp Magruder.  Fee: $240 per person includes lodging, meals, service project support, and program leadership.  The Magruder staff will lead evening programs of team building, games, faith-based discussions, and campfires.  Participants may also enjoy kayaking, boating, or swimming on Magruder’s fresh water lake, walking on the beach, exploring the tidepools, wave jumping in the ocean, and much more.Camp Magruder’s Youth in Service Camp is open only to organized youth groups, not individuals.

Sierra Service Project (SSP) runs week-long service experiences for senior high school youth or adult groups at Native American reservation sites throughout the West.  The work consists of home repairs. Evening activities include cultural exploration, faith development and celebration.  Cost is $275/person/week; fee includes food, lodging and building materials.  Scholarship and financial assistance is available.  Registrations are accepted at any time (depending upon space availability.)  The primary registration period is in the Fall.  2005 locations are: Navajo Nation, AZ; McDermitt, NV; Round Valley, CA; Big Pine, CA; Chiloquin, OR; and Los Angeles, CA.  S, A, RV.
