CONNECT is an annual event hosted by the United Methodist Volunteers In Mission, Southeast Jurisdiction (UMVIM, SEJ).  A tradition for over 28 years, CONNECT allows participants to share experiences, gain insight and resources, as well as network with missionaries and project leaders.  Whether it is through the variety of workshops offered, the diversity of the keynote speakers, or the Christ centered worship services, CONNECT seeks to provide practical tools to equip persons seeking to serve God through short term missions.

Whether a novice or a veteran missioner, CONNECT 2008 will act as a springboard for participants to be agents for change by providing a place to INFORM (educational workshops and speakers), INSPIRE (incredible worship and daily bible studies), and INTERACT (Projects with a Purpose).  Whatever your mission interest—team/individual, domestic/international, medical/disaster response); CONNECT is a great place to begin your mission experience!

YUMVIM – Young United Methodist Volunteers in Mission, a children’s program, will run concurrently with CONNECT.  YUMVIM is for ages 4 yrs. – 5th grade. Rob and Angie Gulledge, directors, work to provide hands-on experience through activities that include music, drama, games, assembling UMCOR disaster relief kits, participation in worship and one of the sessions.  YUMVIM fees include all supplies and a t-shirt.  To encourage family participation, please note that there is a $175 maximum for registration prior to May 1, 2008.

Projects with a Purpose is a time to briefly hear about international and domestic projects. There will be opportunities to select a project for more in-depth information from the project host or missionary as well.  Projects with a Purpose is a great way to plan your next trip or sign up to participate in an exploratory trip.

CONNECT 2008 Projects with a Purpose will include: Honduras, Kenya, Uganda, Native America, Cambodia, France, and Disaster Relief in Mississippi

All pre-registrants receive free t-shirt.  More information will be available soon.
