Porto Velho Jardim Eldorado: The Jardim Eldorado Methodist church seeks to build additional classrooms for its Sunday school and to enable it to operate weekday social program.
This project has already received the assistance of one VIM team that helped initiate the construction of the foundations. This project would like to receive the support of additional VIM teams to help complete the work. The project needs an additional $5,000 to complete the work and welcomes teams that also would like to have activities with children in the program.
Aracaju - Santos Dumont: The Santos Dumont Methodist church seeks a VIM group to help in construction work and activities with children and teenagers from the community that participate in its social programs. The construction project will have significant participation from the community but the construction work requires an investment of $28,000 which can be divided in various stages involving various VIM teams.
Santos Dumont is a poor neighborhood on the outskirts of the capitol city of Aracaju. It is located in the state of Maceio in the impoverished Northeast of Brazil
Barra dos Garças - Igreja Metodista Barra dos Garças: This project involves the construction of the church. The Conference has purchased land for the church and currently the congregation meets in what was the parsonage. There is a long-term need of building a parsonage since the pastor currently lives in a rented home.
This is primarily a construction project although relationship with the community will be important. The cost of this project is approximately $18,000 and will take place in various stages. There is not the expectation that a single VIM team could finance or develop the entire project.
Tangará da Serra - Igreja Metodista Tangará da Serra: This mission project needs assistance in the completion of the church and the construction of a parsonage.
This project has the support of the Conference and the church is advanced in its construction. What is needed is finishing work and the purchase of materials that cost approximately $5,000. The parsonage is in the initial stages of development and would involve an investment of $14,000 and the involvement of various work teams.
São João Nepomuceno Igreja Metodista São João Nepomuceno: This is a construction project that involves finishing work on the church, remodeling of the parsonage and painting of the chapel.
This church has a growing congregation and is interested in expanding its social commitment through the development of professional classes once adequate space is built. While there are significant financial needs for the development of this project, the church realizes that no single group can solve their problems. The congregation itself is making major sacrifices to develop their facility and try to serve the community.
Anchieta - Igreja Metodista Anchieta: The church has an adequate sanctuary but would like to build classrooms on the second floor for job training classes for youth from the community. Construction of the second floor has already started and the congregation holds a monthly bazaar to raise funds for its conclusion.
The local church seeks the support of a VIM team to help it conclude the construction of the second floor and to help reach more people in the community. The construction costs for concluding the second floor are approximately $7,000.
Constantina Igreja Metodista Constantina: This project involves the construction of two bathrooms, a kitchen and laying the floor the church as well as building the altar. In addition, benches will be purchased to equip the church.
The missionary project would like to receive a VIM team that can work with the community in building these additions to the church and provide $2,500 needed for the construction work and church benches.
Jarú Igreja Metodista - Jarú: The Jarú Methodist church wants to build three classrooms and bathrooms to develop a community service project. The building already has a roof but does not have exterior walls or internal divisions.
The local church is energetic and seeks to reach out to the community through a program for children. To build the classrooms and make the bathrooms, it needs $4,000. They would like to receive a work team that would help them with the construction, but would also like to include activities, such as a Vacation Bible school, for the children.
Alegrete - The Methodist Rural Institute of Alegrete: The Methodist Rural Institute of Alegrete seeks to make a soccer field, build bathrooms and a barbeque area.
The Rural Institute has a sizeable area behind the day care center that is currently not being used. It seeks to develop this area for use by the community in hopes that rent received from weekend activities can help maintain the social programs.
The Rural Institute seeks the assistance of a VIM team that can work with volunteers from the community to build these facilities. The project requires about $2,000 funds and involves leveling the land and the construction of two bathrooms, a barbeque area with associated kitchen facilities.

(September).
Varjada:
Habitat for Humanity, Methodist
groups and other organizations are working to address
the need of health, hygiene and housing for families
in the community of Varjada, located in the semi-arid
region of Pernambuco. Famines,
bad sanitation, lack of rain and poor housing have
affected families in this region for years.
Habitat for Humanity in partnership with another
organization built wells and sewer systems for
families in Varjada.
Thanks to this, women who used to spend hours
traveling to collect water not suited for human
consumption are now able to increase their income by
spending more time making embroidered goods.
Teams are
needed to dig holes, lay and cut concrete blocks, put
on roofs, level floors, shovel and mix mortar,
transport sand and dirt, carry materials, and do
anything they can to help build houses for these
families in the next phase of the project. Groups who
participate will also have an opportunity to
fellowship and build relationship with local Methodist
churches.

Northern District priorities:
-
El Redentor Methodist Education Center
- The city of Arica has a population of 150 thousand. It is located in the most Northern point of Chile. One half an hour from Peru to the North and two hours From Bolivia to the East. The Methodist Church was Established there in 1911. A Church was built-in the center of the City. At the same time they also purchased land on the outside of town, in what is now, the poorest part of the city. In this location there is a small church with a strong membership of twenty. Although the Methodist Church family is still a rather small percentage of the entire area, the church remains very active for the community with faithful members. The main purpose of this project is to provide availability of a Christian community center for the poorer area of town, for the people who cannot afford to participate in the central church downtown .
The major goals of the project are to provide a safe clean and happy environment for the public (as well as the existing church members) and to nurture them physically as well as spiritually.
It is also very important to be able to include sufficient area for food preparation, because for a lot of these children it will mean the addition of one, good, healthy meal to the scant rations they exist on now. Although the emphasis at this time is for a good solid start to the education of children of the community, it is our hope to greatly expand upon this as the facility becomes functional. Some of our hopes are for health and hygiene classes for the women of the area.
Work on this project started five years ago. We had a good start and the first phase of construction has been completed. The work was not only done by Volunteer teams but also by the Methodist Mens groups of Northern Chile.
