BOLIVIA

The Office of Promotion of the Evangelical Methodist Church of Bolivia requests a volunteer to find funds to finance and set up a web page, assist in coordination of Volunteers In Mission teams and individuals, maintain donor data base, compose thank you letters and carry out general office duties. These duties do not require Spanish language skills but do require good English skills. Conversational Spanish is needed for communication with Bolivian church workers. 1 year.

CHILE:

Volunteer dentist needed to work in a fully equipped dental clinic at Kusayapu Agricultural Institute, near Iquique.

Volunteer nurse needed for a home for elderly women in Iquique.

Nurse or paramedic needed for El Vergel Agricultural School, Angol.

Nurse or paramedic needed for La Granja Agricultural School, Nueva Imperial.

CHINA:

The Amity Summer English Program (SEP) requests volunteers for various provinces to offer English conversation and listening practice as in-service training for Chinese middle school teachers in rural and minority areas. Amity provides the curriculum and volunteers serve in teams of 4 to 6. July 3-August 3, 2005. Accommodations provided.

An English Training Center in Shenyang requests teachers of English. Bachelor's degree required, ESL teaching experience preferred. 1-2 year terms. Housing, small stipend provided. Foreigners are prohibited by the Chinese government from engaging in evangelistic activities, but volunteers may attend Christian worship services.

 

FIJI ISLANDS:

1. Dilkusha Koro (girls' orphanage) needs someone to help with homework, play and read stories to the girls daily.

2. Veilomani Boys Home need volunteers for a skills-training workshop for the older boys. Skills needed: welding, light automotive, cabinet making, woodworking.

 

GUATEMALA:

Volunteer to teach English to children and adults in Quetzaltenango and Chichicastenango.

Volunteer to teach computers to students 8-12 years old in a public school which does not have resources to pay for a teacher’s salary. Computers for the Computer Lab were donated by the National Methodist Church of Guatemala.

ISRAEL/PALESTINE

Bethlehem Bible College needs a long-term volunteer (6 months or longer) to write proposals and do international correspondence on behalf of the Shepherd Society. Housing, small stipend provided.

 

JAPAN

Junior-senior high English teacher for Kyoai Gakuen, Maebashi, Gunma Prefecture (north of Tokyo).

High school English teacher for Toogijuku High School, Hirosaki, Aomori Prefecture (north of Tokyo).

Woman teacher with Master’s degree or ESL major for Joshi Seigakuin, Tokyo.

KENYA:


Maua Methodist Hospital, Meru North, has an immediate need for a volunteer pediatrician to replace a missionary who is returning to Great Britain.

 

Dentist desperately needed for medical/dental trip to Nakuru, Kenya departing Greensboro, North Carolina November 7, 2007 and returning November 21, 2007. Must have valid passport with expiration date no earlier than June 30, 2008 in order to obtain Kenyan visa. Cost of travel, including roundtrip airfare U.S/Nairobi and in country expenses (room and board in comfortable, western style accommodations) approximately $3000.00. Departure and return may be arranged from your local airport through our travel agent.

KOREA:

The Wesley Mission School in Korea needs two English teachers for Korean children, January through December 2005. Roundtrip airfare, furnished apartment, and a small stipend are provided.

LIBERIA:

The United Methodist University in Monrovia requests three volunteers:

  • 1. A Vice-President for Institutional Development (MA or PhD required). 2-year term.
  • 2. A Vice-President for Academic Affairs (PhD required). 2 years or more.
  • 3. A volunteer accountant to serve as Comptroller (MA in Accounting required).

LITHUANIA

Birzai Reconstruction Project needs someone to coordinate the work of five teams from the US during the summer of 2005.
MEXICO:

Agua Prieta Sonora, Fuente de Vida y Amor clinic, church and community center. Person with a medical management background to assist in the organization and operation of a new free medical clinic and a community program. Need a person to begin immediately and remain at least a year.

MONGOLIA:
The Huree Institute of Information and Communication Technology requests volunteer teachers of Electronic Engineering, Information, Computer Applications, Internet Business, and English for proficiency. Semesters begin in August and January; minimum term of service one semester (16 weeks).

 

NICARAGUA:
El Ayudante Orphanage urgently needs an individual volunteer (or married couple) to serve as host for volunteer teams. Spanish preferable but not required. Foreign mission experience preferred. Length of commitment 1-2 years.

 

PAPUA NEW GUINEA:
1. Doctor and Lab Tech for 36-bed rural hospital in New Ireland Region near Konos (currently there is no doctor or lab tech).
2. Long-term doctor to assist at two rural Health Centers in Papuan Mainland Region (currently staffed by one nurse each).
3. Teachers for various rural village schools (housing provided).

4. Salamo Community Health Workers Training Center needs volunteers to provide assistance to local persons who train community health workers in basic health care at the village level. Physician or nursing degree and current license required.

POLAND: 

Ilawa - Teacher of English as a second language needed for this September (05).

 

SENEGAL:
The SOS Dialogue Counseling and Training Center requests a volunteer to do training in technical or manual work so that people can produce articles to sell for economic self-sufficiency.

SIERRA LEONE
The United Methodist Church Health and Maternity Center, Kissy, Freetown, requests volunteers for general surgery, obstetrics/gynecological surgery, and general dentistry. At least 2 months. Housing provided.

SLOVAKIA:
A volunteer is needed to help plant a United Methodist Church in Piestany, working with the youth, inviting people to church, preaching and leading worship, helping organize activities. Ability to play a musical instrument and/or lead music, dramas, puppetry would be a plus. One year or more.

SOUTH AFRICA:

Khanyisile project, Katlehong, near Johannesburg, cares for persons with HIV/AIDS and needs volunteers to assist in various capacities.

SPAIN:
Misión Urbana, Barcelona, requests pastoral and/or counseling assistance for persons in refugee centers and inner-city shelters. Fluent Spanish required.

SWAZILAND:

Volunteer for administration of primary schools, coordination of HIV/AIDS

program, and promotion of Volunteers In Mission; help with computer. 6 months to

3 years. Housing and meals provided.

TONGA:

Vaiola Hospital in Nuku'alofa requests a volunteer surgeon, ER doctor, OR nurse, anesthesiologist, pediatrician, nursing school instructors, and mechanic to maintain medical equipment. Doctors - 2 months. Nursing school instructor - 9 months. Mechanic - 1-2 years. Housing provided.

USA (ALABAMA):

The Upper Sand Mountain Parish is looking for a highly skilled and motivated coordinator to maintain areas of ministry relating to construction. The Coordinator would work with the Parish Director to facilitate a building ministry for low-income families, maintain building and grounds of Parish facilities, and manage the warehousing of building materials, working closely with the Parish and partner churches, members, and volunteers.

USA (CALIFORNIA):

Mt. Shasta Retreat Center - Mt. Shasta CA - A licensed contractor to oversee the construction of a three-story retreat center. Construction is scheduled to begin May 15, 2005. Housing and meals provided. The need to find someone is urgent so that construction can proceed as planned.

USA (FLORIDA)

Arcadia, in rural south Florida, has a large population of farm workers and agriculture has been negatively affected due to the hurricanes. Volunteers are needed for the following specific tasks:

  • 1. Materials Coordinator - to secure low cost supplies and arrange delivery as well as maintain specialized tools
  • 2. Work team leader - to accompany work teams to sites, facilitate the work, monitor safety and quality control
  • 3. Work planner - to do residential assessments, repair planning, develop materials list, and costing
  • 4. Case worker - Collect household storm impact data, provide referrals, facilitate development of recovery plan
  • 5. Program Director - provide day-to-day direction for recovery coordination team.
  • 6. Volunteer Coordinator - recruit and schedule VIM teams, arrange accommodations, maintain documentation
  • 7. Assessment surveyor - collect data from survivors, make referral to appropriate resources

USA (ILLINOIS):

The Midwest Mission Distribution Center, Chatham, is looking for couples to serve 1-3 months at a time as long-term volunteer coordinators. A stipend is paid to each person and a dorm room reserved for those not having their own R.V. 

 

USA: IOWA

Shesler Hall, Sioux City, a residence for women with special needs, needs a volunteer with experience and/or training in grant writing/public relations/development as soon as possible, length of time flexible. Housing and meals provided.

USA (KENTUCKY):

Tess' International Handicraft Shop, Wilmore, needs a store manager for a nonprofit mission store, preferably someone with a business degree and retail management experience.

USA (KENTUCKY):

Wesley House Community Services, Louisville, seeks a professional to work alongside of the Development Consultant and assist with raising funds for the renovation of the Wesley Wearhouse and participate in major grant writing to supplement the Wesley House Budget.

 

USA (KENTUCKY):

 

The Bennett Center, London, KY: Long term volunteer (6-12 months) to act as a campus administrator who will keep things running for us while the Board determines future steps.  Includes a two bedroom on campus apartment with utilities along with an $800-1000 monthly allowance.

 

USA (LOUSIANA):

 

Volunteer needed at UMCOR Sager Brown Depot in Baldwin, LA.  The volunteer will seet up and supervise local community housing rehabilitation projects.  Working with the Director of Outreach Ministries, the volunteer will verify applications, survey the project, plan repairs and coordinate volunteer teams to accomplish the tasks required.  The volunteer should have some construction knowledge.  For more information, click here.

McCurdy School, Espanola, needs a long-term volunteer to coordinate volunteer teams and individuals.

USA: NORTH CAROLINA

Brooks-Howell Home, Asheville, needs a volunteer in residence for the Social Services department. Duties include assisting with mail distribution and delivery of newspapers; operating video for "Wednesday Night Flick"; assisting residents in organizing belongings; reading or writing letters as needed; escorting residents to doctor appointments, shopping, church, special outings, and other activities; escorting ill residents to emergency rooms, sitting with terminally ill persons; and other duties as requested.

USA (Oklahoma):

Cookson Hills Center, Oklahoma Indian Missionary Conference, needs a volunteer to assist with the Volunteers In Mission program.
USA (Tennessee)

Church Health Center, Memphis, TN, seeks interns in aquatics, child life education, health education, health services research, exercise and movement, wellness, nutrition, physical therapy, public affairs, and congregational health ministries.
